Wheels & Tires?

First you have a great looking truck.. My opinion is that you need to leave the stock wheels. I think if you have to large of a diameter wheel (18-20 inch) the smaller profile of tire makes the look of the wheel/tire combo weird. I like the look of a taller tire than to low profile tire on a truck like yours. But that is just my .02.

I'm afraid you've been fooled by an optical illusion!

I took off the 16.5 x 8.25 factory wheels (available) which were wearing a worn out set of Cooper Discoverer 33x12.5r16.5 mainly because it has become increasingly difficult to find tires for 16.5" rims. The rim tire combo you now see on the truck are 16x8 Eagle Alloy 168s wearing Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx 285/75r16e which while narrower are about the same height if not just a smidge taller that the old 33x12.5r16.5. Soooooooooo, pretty much the same set up as before.

Warpath - Apologies as I did not see the second pic of the new wheel combo.. Agreed that 16.5 tires are hard to come by these days. Very good choice on the alloys you chose. But I am old school and still like the stock steel and hub cap combo you have. Hopefully you still kept them!

ext5060 - No apologies necessary! While I can't say I'm 100% fond of the steel wheels & dog dish look, my very first choice would have been the truck rallys from a K10. My first truck years ago, an '80 C15 came new to me with white wagon wheels and I was lucky to pick up a set of truck rally take-offs at the local flea market and never looked back. My '78 K5 Blazer had the same. If I could have found a way to punch an 8 lug hole pattern in a set of K10 rallys and manage to stretch them over the brakes, you'd be looking at a completely different picture.

Actually, the 16.5's are still readily available and easy to get out here. I just bought a complete set for my truck, no problem. Load range E 10 ply's. Had them shipped to my house and mounted and balanced them myself.

The local RV shop here in town sells them by the hundreds, since most of your RV motor homes still use the 16.5 inch wheels, and motor homes are a huge past time out here in AZ. So I don't see these tires going out of production anytime soon.

Personally, since we are throwing around opinions, I like the steel wheels better, just fits the era of the truck. Too many running around anymore with aftermarket or newer style wheels. Seldom see the steelies anymore so it's a welcome site in my eyes.

The h1 beadlocks are the 16.5s your thinking of.The h2 wheels they are showing are 17x8.5
