Here's a picture of the sheet in the glovebox... I talked to the Fire Chief that ordered the vehicle originally. He told me that he bought it through a GMC Dealer in Houghton Lake Mich (now out of business). He is looking for pictures to send me. From the factory it had the heavy duty suspension, the larger doors (of course), the topper, exhaust fan and a cargo heater as well as the items listed. He told me that it had a "federal tech." siren. A red bubble light on top and the words "Gerrish township" in peel and stick letters (lol) on the topper. He further told me that the "t" in the VIN stands for "Special Transportation Vehicle"

Cool. Not many of us know the history behind our trucks. Treat her well, you have a diamond in the rough.

paint it the original colors and put some really nice 18s and restore the rest and maybe put air suspension or something and that would be really sweet, in my opinions

Nice truck!
By the way, not sure that having a "T" in the VIN means anything other than it being a GMC. My 72 GMC K2500 VIN also starts "TKE" , and even though it was special ordered from Asplundh GMC, I'm pretty sure they're all that way. Any one?

I was told the "T" was a '72 GMC only thing. Here is a pic of a bare bones '72 C/1500 by my house, I think it may have been a fleet vehicle because the sticker is kinda strange (wb= 000.0?).

I'm pretty sure that it was in 72, GM started putting a "C" for Chevy and a "T" for GMC as the first letter in the VIN. I think this was the standard through 1980. It changed again in 81 to the 17 digit VIN with the first number indicating country of origin, 1 for USA and 2 for Canada.
