stumped

the driver rear wheel is freezing. Seems to freeze when I back up and then unfreeze sporadically and also freezes sporadically. Last year replaced master cylinder and both rear wheel cylinders and everything was fine. Just replaced the rear shoes and drums and frozen solid again (still on jack) the wheel cylinders are not sticking and the emergency brake cable is not binding. the axle spins freely when the hub is off.

Make sure the self adjuster is on the correct side
Take a picture with the Drum off and post it up
Something might be reversed

If the adjuster is in backwards the more you drive the tighter it will get.

There is also supposed to be a wave washer in between the parking brake lever and the brake shoe lever and if it isn't there it will cause the assembly to stick and or bind causing the issue you describe, if you need one head to Ace hardware they carry them in the special fasteners bins in the nuts and bolt section.
Though the wave washer may be a contributing factor it sounds to me like you have the mechanism improperly assembled.

No wave washer was there when I reassembled the brakes... I will add he brakes worked fine from the last work (wheel cylinder replace) last year until now
here is a pic just before I redid the brakes last night, can't post new pic as I am not home right now to take new pic
also, if it was a soft line plugged, the wheel cylinder plungers would be out. The passenger side shoes and the driver shoes are same width apart at bottom and top

From what I can tell you have it assembled correctly, pull it back apart and install the wave washer and it should work as intended.
The wave washer is very important, you must have it.
You need to replace both of those adjusters they are trashed.

Btw some people don't know this so I thought I would mention it.
Those drum brakes are self adjusting and how they work is you put it in reverse and back up 10 feet then hit the brakes and it will self adjust, do this a few times and they will be fully adjusted.

good point, I take it for granted everyone knows that because I'm getting old...I'm headed to Galena Kansas for family reunion end of month for couple weeks..dad was born there in 1910, i'm thinking of touring the Leavenworth Fed Prison...any other attractions I might want to check out in Kansas there Xeen?

There is nothing to see in Kansas move along, move along...
Seriously though I can't imagine a much more boring state there just isn't any exciting attractions like the mountain ranges in Colorado or the Grand canyon in Arizona or the Caves in Missouri, there is just nothing and more nothing.

I had a similar issue after replacing a wheel cylinder.
Turns out brake fluid got on the brake shoe from the
leaking cylinder and caused the lock up.
Replace the shoes and clean the drums and you should be good to go.

well.......I had cleaned all parts with brake cleaner and no leaking fluid. Replaced the shoes on one side and new drum won't fit. Shoes all the way in and cylinder not out at all as top shoes are against pin. installed old drum on new shoes and so far so good. Truck was running crappy and bogging at 50 mph-fyi-removed check valve in carb filter and voila no more bogging. Maybe drive it further than around the block for once-thanks for the help, ps still can't find any wave washers, called 9 places-no ace hardware here. Brother in parts at ford, can't get them either

Someone around has to be able to get wave washers because there are lots of machines that have to have them to operate properly, do you have a fastener specialty store or a machinery service or supplier around anywhere?

if you clean between the 2 surfaces you should be able to get away with antisieze for a while the heat wont bother it and it wont wash away easily and will let the 2 slide easy enough for the short distance that needs

This sometimes happens when two secondary shoes are put on instead of 1 primary and 1secondary shoe. ?

damn, forgot about this. Thanks, i was thinking there is no hole in the back of the hub to adjust, until i just read your message and remember this.

One way to find out if it is a hydraulic or mechanical problem is when the wheel is locked up is to loosen the bleeder valve. If the brakes release then you have pressure remaining keeping the brakes engaged
