66 Rear End... Is this Right?
Hi everyone. I have a 66 C10 fleetside.. my rear end has springs, shocks and leafs.. is this right?? or has a PO done something strange? If this is the correct setup should i replace or fix anything?
Thanks... just confused. I thought that they we just leafs back there until i looked.... 66gwn |

That looks like a C20.
The 2 wheel drive 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks have the trailing arms with coil springs. 4x4 trucks and the C30 have leaf springs.

Those are an optional set of overload springs. They were a factory option.

That's correct, standard coil springs, the leaf springs were an optional overload assist.

I agree that, that truck is a C20 with the optional leaf spring overloads.

The coils look kind of sacked. And I don't think that diff has posi-trac.

Maybe a poor sense of humour my comments on the springs etc. but it shows how the old trucks used to do a lot more work than they do today. I had one broken spring so had to buy a new pair. Maybe those will sit a little lower and look better.
