Differences in firewall and help with 71-72 pedal install in my 1970

I've read Putters thread and like what he's done, but since my trucks cab is currently off the frame and media blasted, I figured I'd try and make the install as factory as possible and cut holes in the 71-72 spot and fill the hole that I no longer need. Like everyone else, I bought the pedal assembly that includes the under dash bracket, I know a lot of folks cut the bracket but where would the top portion normally mount under the dash?

And is the firewall different on my 1970 than a 71-72? Obviously there are differences in the mounting location, but it looks to me unless I modify the arm for the pedal the cable will come out in a weird spot? Anyone care to share the dimensions of where the pedal would have mounted from the factory on a 71-72?

Thanks
