Steering wheel compatibility

Will a steering wheel out a 67-72 pick up fit a 73-87 column or vice versa, Thanks.

Yes and no. The splines are the same but they do not fit without work. The horn contact parts are in different spots, so new holes need to be drilled and I have found a lot of the older wheels are a little to thick at the mounting flange. So when you go to install them the wheel pushes down on the lock wheel and won't let it turn.

The difficulties in horn contact fitment that cshades refers to apply to tilt columns. Non tilt don't use the lock plate assembly and you are free to clock the horn contact around any way you desire so that it lines up with the hole in the steering wheel. They're close enough so that your turn signal canceling isn't affected.

My experience is with putting a 67 style (3 spoke) wheel onto a square body and with putting a ton of 89'up wheels on early trucks.
