Turbocharged CUCV

I'm wondering to add a turbocharger to a 1984 K30 CUCV to have more power.
Any suggestions and experiences about ?

I have one on my m1008. I didn't turn the fuel up much, so more power is there, but you really don't want much more than 6-8psi on a 6.2 if you want it to live long. Makes the power about like a stock 350

There and dieselplace.com, lot's of diehard 6.2 guys there. In a nutshell, 6.5 turbo parts fit. Some massaging needed but not much.

With a free flow exhaust and intake mods, you would be about 75% there compared to a Banks turbo and with a lot less complication.

When you buy the truck you may decide that the power is adequate since you're only planning to use it around town. The only time mine feels under powered is on the highway or interstate when I'm pulling our 6x12 open trailer with a few motorcycles on it. Around town it runs great even with 3.08 gears and bigger tires. The trucks you're looking at with 4.56 gears might give all the grunt you want up to 45 or 50 mph.

Thanks, very useful info, so I could just open pipes, what do you think about ?

The truck will have dual exhaust on it, you could put some type of free flowing mufflers on it if you want. When the original mufflers on mine started leaking I had new pipe put on with some used turbo mufflers I'd taken off my other truck. But personally I wouldn't bother with headers. Last time I looked they were around $650. For that price you can put on a turbo.

The stock dual exhaust is pretty restrictive. I would ditch the system and install a 3" or larger super single with a big free flowing muffler such as a Donaldson. You'll also need to turn up the pump some after the mods.
