Taking a poll

I have a factory 1966 k10 suburban. I was thinking about converting the front to disc brakes.

Does this help the resale value or hurt?

Thanks for any feedback

Re: Taking a poll

I would say help considering that in high end classic car shows they do not take points off for safety upgrades such as brakes. I don't think anyone would miss the original front drums

There are purists, but overall I do not see it hurting the value. Just remember you will probably need new wheels to clear the calipers. Factory drum steel wheels do not work (without spacers).

Re: Taking a poll

Just save all the original parts and include them if you sell it.

Drums suck!!!

Re: Taking a poll

I would say a well executed disc brake conversion would only hurt resale value if the vehicle you "improved" was a low mile, all-original, time capsule type survivor. No harm at all in making a driver type vehicle safer.

Re: Taking a poll

I will eventually convert my factory 4x4 to disks too. As mentioned above Keep the original parts if you are worried about resale.

Mine will not be an OEM restoration, so once mine is back on the road I will be on the lookout for a doner truck for the swap. I will use mine for some light towing, so the disks will be a major improvement based on how it (barley) stops now.
