porterbuilt stage 2 or 3

I am trying to get some insight before I pull the trigger on a portebuilt suspension for my 72 shortbed. I was originally convinced that what I wanted was the stage 2 front deluxe and the stage 2 rear basic kit. My dilemma is that I feel once its done, I may want to go lower like most guys do. I do NOT want to alter the bed floor besides the tubs if necessary. I want the truck to still be able to function as a truck with a bed that can still haul things when necessary.

I am curious as to how low the truck would sit with a level 2 rear and front drop member airbag suspension setup without modifying the bed floor. I know that it will not rest as low as it would with the bed modified but I am wondering how low it will rest when aired out. If anyone has photos or information/advice that they could share I would greatly appreciate it.

If you do not want to alter the factory bed floor then you would need to stick with the Stage 2 rear.... it's the only notch we make that doesn't protrude into the bed floor.

Here's a good thread for you to see the end result: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=606345

Yeah hes right the stage 3 you will have to raise the bed floor or cut a big hole in it.

Re: porterbuilt stage 2 or 3

Gotta love the customer service at porterbuilt, they always respond to emails, calls and posts on the forum. That's the main reason I won't even consider purchasing from a competitor. I guess my only follow up question is: would the stage two front and rear drop member allow the truck to ride/sit lower than the stage 2 deluxe front and the stage two rear basic? Thanks for your time and insight

Much lower.

The Stage 2 front and rear kits are used when wanting to keep the factory front inner wheel wells and rear bed floor in tact. They essentially allow the truck to go as low as possible without starting to cut up factory sheet metal.

The Dropmember Level 2 kit is very invasive and will allow the frame to set right at an inch off the ground. It is nearly identical to the Level 3 kits.... with the exception of bag mount locations.
