Painted metal door panels
My 70 was factory medium olive with green interior. I'm not too into the dark green door panels and how they clash with the lighter color of the medium green. Also I hate the ornate style of the seat and panels. I will probably be going with a green seat cover with houndstooth inserts or just a solid green. I am thinking about getting the metal door panels and having them painted the same color as the truck. Has anyone anyone done that and what are your thoughts?

Re: Painted metal door panels
Take the door panels to your local upholstery shop and have them wrapped with the same vinyl as your seat cover .

Re: Painted metal door panels
I plan on having the seat the stock dark green color but I do not like how it contrasts with the paint on the door. I'd like the door to be all the same color.

Re: Painted metal door panels
Sounds like you have it figured out. If you want them the same color then imo you know that's how you want it, get er done I think if you didn't then you would regret it.

Re: Painted metal door panels
I thought it was cool when I found out that my ornate vinyl scroll door panels just used the stock steel panels for a base. I remember them from my Dad's 910 and I assume my old C10.
I think painted a better color (I know the contrast you're talking about) would be a clean look.

Re: Painted metal door panels
Not to hijack this thread but...if you were to paint the metal door panels what is the best paint for this?

Re: Painted metal door panels
I've seen trucks of a few different colors with the door panels painted black. We have a 69 that is maroon here like that and I did my truck that's white that way to go with black dash and seat. We used regular automotive paint.

Re: Painted metal door panels
The seat color contrasts with the door panel or the body color? I think the door panel and seat matching looks best, no matter what color.

Re: Painted metal door panels
That looks great. I think the cost of painting the panels at the time I paint the truck will be negligible and worth the gamble to see if I really like it.
