has anyone tried making a glove box liner before? mines falling apart from years of leaky windscreen gasket found some for sale on eBay but I'm over in the UK and it's like 100 dollars by the time it gets here just for a bit of cardboard :/

I remember a post by a board member, who made his out of aircraft aluminum skin. I've also seen plastic versions available from some vendors, but I have no specifics or citations to attach.
Either of these materials would be less susceptible to Blighty weather.

Re: glove box liner

I made mine because the replacement I bought to fit with the newly installed A/C wasn't needed and had a lot less space. I used a steel mesh(not sure of the correct name), and coated it with clear so it wouldn't rust. It's dark out so photos are not so good, can get better ones tomorrow if you need.

Re: glove box liner

The yellow color you see coming through it is the under dash lighting and the bracket is an A/C mount.

Re: glove box liner

Hey thanks dazza that's great idea. I mount my cc player/stereo unit in the glove box too as I didn't want to cut the dash about and that looks perfect. will try and track some mesh down and give it a go! how did you join the sides to it?

Re: glove box liner

admittedly I hadn't looked there because I usually deal with summit or jegs which they do not sell them so had only been looking on ebay. going to go with dazza's idea as I wanted something with more strength anyway but thanks for the heads up if I want a stock one at a later date.

Re: glove box liner

Thanks for the comments!

Mike - It has three separate pieces, the left and right as well as the center. After some trial and error cutting I put the bottom edge under the door and aligned the holes with the ones i drilled out in the center piece beforehand. Before I completely tightened the screws I pulled down the top side of it, and since the mesh has flex to it, I was able to fit it in securely. I was amazed at how snug it fit and has plenty of strength. It wouldn't be a problem if I put something heavy in there.

As for the sides, after cutting them to size, I used rubber electrical tape to cover the edges. It was just enough for a tight seal and being it is rubber, holds in securely. Depending on how it holds up, I may replace with a soft rubber edging, like maybe put a slice in some 1/4" rubber tubing and put it over the edge. For now it holds nice and looks good.

The brackets in the pic of the underside are only being used for the A/C, there is nothing attached to the glovebox insert.

Re: glove box liner

I did, I bought it from a guy a few years ago that is apparently a reseller, he didn't list it with a manufacturer name but it looks exactly like a Vintage Air Gen II Mini - Heat, Cool & Defrost.
Just got the truck running recently and haven't had a chance to go get it filled yet so I don't know how well it will work.
