Question Door Panel Help

I bought a driver's side door that didn't have an interior panel on it, but I already had one so it wasn't a big deal. But after getting the door mounted and the panel ready to put on, I discovered the little plastic pieces that are in the door to screw the panel into are gone. I've looked around, but no one sells the little pieces themselves. What can I buy that will do the job and hold my panels in place? Any help is appreciated!

It's a '72 door, so clips. And yes, along the bottom of the door

Re: Door Panel Help

I think you can use the square little plastic things that go in your bumper for a tag. I had to use them on my 67 because where they were suppose to be there was just a square hole. Someone had broke them out of door. You will just have to find the right size. Autozone or advance should have them.

Re: Door Panel Help

These look real similar to the clips used on the 72.

Re: Door Panel Help

Car andTruck shop has them. $3 for a kit. Left side of page 2nd item from top. If that's what he is looking for.

Re: Door Panel Help

Which should I use if I'm using a door panel from a '71 pickup on a '72 door? And will a '71 armrest fit on the '72 door also?

Re: Door Panel Help

67-71 uses basically a square nut and screws. I think you would have to drill holes in the door panel to line up with nuts. I don't know what to tell you except GOOD LUCK! And as far as the arm rest I have no clue. Sorry I can't help you any further. I didn't realize you were trying to mix the two

But will a '71 armrest work on a '72 door?

Re: Door Panel Help

I pretty sure it will, you just have to add a way to put the fastners in the door to hold the door panel on. Then the armrest will fit.

Thumbs up Re: Door Panel Help

Alright, I figured it out! At Advance Auto Parts, they sell "nylon door trim nuts" and door trim screws. I went in and explained what I needed and the manager took me right to the nuts and screws! I bought an assortment pack and smallest nut in the box did the job, but I did have to drill the holes in the door just the slightest amount, hardly noticeable. So if you are in the same predicament I was, I would recommend Advance Auto for this solution! And yes, the '71 armrest fit on my '72 door.

Re: Door Panel Help

72 had longer posts for the door handle and window regulator. Cause of the thicker door panels.
They will work but may stick out a Lil farther than 67-71's regulators.

Those Lil square nuts can be a pain in the but.
