Six lug 12 bolt: What's it worth?
I found a 12 bolt with six lug pattern, set for trailing arms, at the local junkyard.
Assuming decent shape, what do these go for? Guy said $200, he'll help pull it. Kind of want to get it, rebuild it over time with posi & discs & heave it under my '57 but the $$ adds up quick... Anyway, what's a good starting price?

As long as it is in good shape internally and not all rusted up, that is not a bad price. Although if it is a '63 with the pressed on backing plates, I would likely steer clear.

Re: Six lug 12 bolt: What's it worth?
Yes, with panhard bar that mounts in the center section housing to a bolt it is a newer one, I think 65 up to 71. If welded mount on the axle tube it is the older version. First part of 71 they were also 1 1/2" wider and then they went to 5 bolt hubs. If they are 3.07 it is a way of getting highway gears without the overdrive.

Re: Six lug 12 bolt: What's it worth?
last year i had to buy that very same thing. prices were from $175-$425 I spent the $175 but it howled so i had it rebuilt they told me i needed new axles. luckily i saved my old ones and they were in great shape. so i paid $575 cash and they changed my carrier bearing also. turned out great.

Re: Six lug 12 bolt: What's it worth?
Does it help narrow it down if I say the front end has drum brakes?
Also, what gear ratios did these come with? I'm running 4.10s right now, don't want to get down to the 2.73 range or anything too lazy.

3.73 was quite common.
