Questions on ZZ4 engine

I have a ZZ4 350 that is in great shape with low mileage.I am thinking about putting it in my 67.The 67 already has a 700R4 trans.I want a lumpy idle but don't care about performance.I guess I want a drive or a cruise in cam.
If I just change to the Mutha Thumper cam and leave everything else along will it perform almost as good as it does now without cam swap? I may not have enough vaccumn for brake booster and I may have to buy a stall converter.But I want the sound.

The ZZ engines are roller cam, I woukdnt take it out and replace it with anything less. I haven't seen the thumper cams in a roller but there may be one. I have worked on a few engines with the thumper cams. Mostly big blocks and yes, they sound good but I was not impressed with performance. I'd say look at a the LT4 hot cam. It's old school design but has a good sound and power.

Yes definitely keep roller lifters.Will the Hot cam have a pretty good lope?

It's hard to say. What you call good lope may be different than what I call it. It has a good muscle car sound. I don't have any more videos of my cars with that cam. I'm sure you can find some on YouTube. It doesn't need the 1.6 roller rockers but it does sound better with them.

You won't be happy with the LT4 hotcam, it doesn't have much more lope than the ZZ4 cam.

To answer your question, if you put in the mother lumper cam will you get the sound you are looking for? Yes you will, a head swap would gain you some hp but it's not nessesary if Preformance isn't what you are going for.

Give any Cam manufacturer a call, they have plenty of grinds that are just what you need.

You want to avoid any high lift cams, which will force you to make spring and rocker arm changes. Thumpers are very nice sounding cams. I'm a fan of the old school lope myself! Essentially the cam you want should have significant overlap, which causes that sound.

Pair that up with some flowmasters to get it really talking.

Aren't the "Thumpr" series designed to have a bad idle but still be driveable or something? Like they sound big but you can still live with the grind? Not sure why I think that, but if its true, it could be just what you want.

If its not, someone should really tighten up the lobe centers on a RV cam and get a torquey but lumpey cam!
