Pedal style ebrake in a 66?

Has anyone seen or done a mod to make their ebrake a pedal style instead of the hand lever? I have a 66 short stepper that I am wanting to put the pedal system in with the pull handle release like the newer style vehicles. If I recall correctly I think McMurphy has done this but I can't find any info on the web about the swap. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Darryl

there's a little something on Persh's page:

(the page is not displaying properly for me, but hopefully it's just my computer which has been screwing up since installing explorer 9)

To me, that that big ol' handle is one of the cool things about our trucks. It also can come in handy when stopped in traffic on a incline (manual trans).

Re: Pedal style ebrake in a 66?

Its pretty cool for the purpose it serves, but it doesn't have a place in my build unfortunately. I'm extending the dash down some to mount my a/c vents and it doesn't quite go with the flow...

Re: Pedal style ebrake in a 66?

Very handy! My brakes failed on my first test drive (should have checked wheel cylinders first) and it saved me from going through a busy intersection!

Re: Pedal style ebrake in a 66?

You can use the pedal the same way you just pull the ebrake release handle and push the pedal down as needed. I'm running 14" C6 ZO6 brakes on my truck so the handle doesn't quite go with the "feng shui" of the truck lol

Re: Pedal style ebrake in a 66?

Used the forum search tool and found this thread.
One of the upgrades / mods I want to do.
I just think it'll be more natural in an emergency situation to quickly move my foot to another pedal rather than take one off the wheel and try and make an emergency stop leaned forward with only one hand on the wheel.
