64 C30 Rear Shock Mount?
Can someone post or direct me to a pic of how the rear shocks mount on a 64 C30 9' Stake bed? There are mounts on the frame but nothing on the axel. Did some come without rear shocks?

Re: 64 C30 Rear Shock Mount?
I see I mixed up my question. There are lower mounts on the axle but nothing on the frame. I have scoured Google and all the forums I can find to see how the shocks originally mounted. I am wondering if someone robbed the shocks and mounts though there seem to be a hand full of posts on various forums that imply the heavy duty suspension didn't have rear shocks? I'm not sure this would be correct but I have been wrong before.... Here are some pics....

Re: 64 C30 Rear Shock Mount?
The 64 I just bought is the same way. Don't believe they had rear shocks on them from the factory. Some new shocks used to come with mounting hardware that bolted to the frame. I was going to look into it when I was ready to install new shocks in the front.

Re: 64 C30 Rear Shock Mount?
The tabs on the frame are pretty tweaked but I can straighten them. It looks like they line up with the inside of the frame. Lots of holes on the driver's side but not so much on the passenger side. I can fabricate something to bolt in there but I want to make sure I have it in the right location so I can by off the shelf stocks for that make/model. I was thinking maybe a bolt in tube crossmember with some tabs for the shocks. Would be pretty easy to do.
Can't find a wrecking yard near me that has a donor. If someone had a picture, that would be very helpful.. |

Re: 64 C30 Rear Shock Mount?
I believe the C30's that did have shocks, the upper mounting bracket is the same as used on the '63-'72 4x4's. I can get a pic of those tomorrow. My '66 C30 did not have shocks when I got it, but it looks like the upper brackets were there at some time. What I was going to do is just fabricate a mount using a round tube all the way across with either a formed shock mount or just tabs welded to the tube.

Re: 64 C30 Rear Shock Mount?
Here are a couple pics of the '72 and earlier K series upper rear shock mount. My '66 C30 frame appears to have the holes in the frame already for mounts like these.
