1972 GMC 1500 Stock Build

Hey guys! So last week I went and purchased my 1972 GMC1500 2wd Longbox! I purchased it down in Montana from a one owner family. It is currently at the border storage in Sweetgrass MT until tomorrow when I am going to pick it up. The truck is fairly close to stock, and I plan to return it to stock as close as I can. I have minimal amounts of rust repair to do before I can drive it (out of province inspections are quite rigid here), as well as installing a new washer pump and possibly a new windshield . But other than that I am excited! The truck has 118XXX original miles on it, judging from receipts I have and the detailed account I got from the owners. I have an aftermarket cruise control to remove, as well as a seat that needs a bit (I hope) of work. If you are looking for a build thread where lots is going to happen in a very short time, this is not it. I'll be updating as I go and asking questions (I'm not very experienced at all, especially mechanically), but other than that hope you enjoy a project that will stay a project! More pictures to come tomorrow when I bring it home.

I forgot to mention that as soon as I get my inspection done and it is licensed, it will be my daily driver, hopefully indefinitely. A shot of the interior.

Congrats on the new ride. I remember a little while ago when you were dealing on it. I notice on the spid the truck has a 3:73 rear end. If you haven't had a truck with a 350/350 combo with 3:73's you are probably going to like it very much. My truck has that and its a great combo for daily driving. My truck pulls from a light quicker than the BB I had with 3:08's. Mine is reasonable on gas as well.

Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Stock Build

Awesome. Good to know. When I went to test drive it I hopped in and started driving down the freeway. Was talking with my buddy who came with not paying attention at all. Looked at the speedo and it said 85 mph. Granted it may be off a little bit, but the point being it drove nicer and shifted smoother than anything I have driven, so I am really excited. It has the original owners manual and documentation. The manual is so clean it looks like it never has been opened.

Thanks! They are starting to become more attractive to me than the Chevy's. I'm not quite sure why everyone is in a hurry to exchange the front clip out
