I've had great luck with top banana

For the price, you might want to find an old car salvage or put a post on the classified for wanting to buy (wtb). I've gotten an entire dash shipped from one of our members.

Re: Who sells good Aftermarket fenders?

How much of the front end do you need? Just fenders or the whole thing?

It may be cheaper to find a good used front clip, than to buy all the parts repop....

Re: Who sells good Aftermarket fenders?

It is very difficult to find fenders that don't need at least a patch let alone a complete front end. I prefer to purchase fenders that I know need work and then just repair them to new condition. I have yet to see an aftermarket fender that I would accept and bolt onto any of my trucks. What others accept is not acceptable to me.

x2 Captainfab.

When I had to confront this issue, I invested in a cheap MIG welder instead of aftermarket front fenders. After a bit of practice, anyone can figure out how to patch panels, saving a lot of money and frustration out of trying to make aftermarket fenders fit right. It's much easier to justify spending time on fenders that came with your rig, rather than the time you have to spend AFTER having already shelled out a bunch of money on re-popped stuff.

Re: Who sells good Aftermarket fenders?

Kind of a long post but just offering a little story about my fenders.
Not only aftermarket. I purchased my truck in 1998 and was working in the parts dept of a Chevrolet dealer up here in Ontario. I looked up new O.E.M. fenders and saw they still had 5 of each side in stock at our local warehouse so my buddy and I both ordered a pair. They were about $450. each at the time but I didn't want to play with the aftermarket ones offered at the time. When they came in I unwrapped them and checked for dents etc as it would be a few years before we did the truck over. Fast forward 6 years and I go to fit the left front fender on my truck and when I line up the rear top mount the fender is overlapping the door by about 3/8".... right side was OK. My truck wasn't a rust free project to start with so figuring it might have been hit or tweaked I take the fender out to my buddy's place and try it on his truck. Same thing. He goes and gets his freshly painted fender to try and it's the same. Turns out when these were stamped out the long vertical brace is suppose to go right back to the trailing edge of the fender and then there is about 3/8" of the fender that overlaps the brace to seal it up. Ours had the overlap bent over before the vertical brace was inside the lip. My body man was able to carefully unfold the lip, drill out the spot welds and move the vertical brace but we ended up slotting the holes that mount to the inner skirt but they have been on there for 10+ years.

The new KMC fenders and bedsides are awesome! They fit incredibly well and are far far superior to repops of the past.

I bought new fenders for my truck. Mocked them up and decided it would be easier to fix my originals. So I did.

Assuming you are in California since you say Palm Desert as your place...I assume Palm Springs or something. lol The Orange County Truck and Car shop isn't to far from you(I think). Least for shipping large parts. I went to their shop a couple days ago and got some parts. Happened to look at their stepside fenders and they looked nice. If you make a trip out of it you can get ANYTHING in their catalog at the shop... and no shipping. Lotta the guys I saw there were making $1000 plus orders. lol

Re: Who sells good Aftermarket fenders?

So, I just got a front fender from nsanehotrodz. The steel is a nice heavy gauge and the stamping looks pretty great too. I haven't fitted it to the truck yet, so I can report back on that.

Now, there was a minor defect in the front area where the panel that sits behind the grill/headlights mates with the fender proper. It's like a little nubbin of steel that pokes down.

I sent Nsanehotrodz and email detailing my issue with a bunch of photos. They required a few more batches of photos and after all is said and done, the customer service person said it wasn't a defect but damage. This irked me a bit, since either way, it's something they should take care of.

I expressed to her that I wasn't particularly pleased with the response and she told me one of the owners would call me. She did, very shortly after.

Let me add, nobody was rude. Everyone was very polite.

After speaking with the owner, she acknowledged that there was indeed a defect that they are so used to it being there they didn't even pick up on it in the pictures.

Apparently, these fenders (which apparently top banana sells the same part) all suffer from this. She said it's either get the thicker gauge steel fender and have that one defect or get the brand that doesn't have the defect, but is considerably thinner steel. I guess the steel, when the thicker fender is formed in that one spot, when making that corner that artifact happens.

She put me in touch with one of their techs who told me how I could modify they fender doing some body work and remove this little nubbin. Apparently the steps the tech told me are what they had to do to this fender (above) to make it perfect.

Does anyone out there have a top banana front fender and can attest to this? I believe the owner, I just want to not have to do body work. That's kind of the reason I bought an entirely new fender instead of patching.

Re: Who sells good Aftermarket fenders?

I used Tri-plus / Keyparts inner and outer fenders on my truck. I had very similar marks on them. I had to modify both lower corners and the drivers side upper corner (which looked amazingly similar to your picture). From my experience very seldom can one bolt on a fender without doing some tweaking. Personally I would rather work with new metal then fix rust. Guess I should add all of it came from Top Banana.

I don't know of any aftermarket replacement body parts that don't require some work to make them fit right.
