How do I install outer window AD trim? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

This question is for those who have put these together more than me. How do I get these outer trim pieces installed without bending them? If I recall, I had to flex them to get them out and they bent in the corners, which I had to hammer and dolly back straight before paint. How do I get them back in without bending them again?

You want the place the bottom in and gently fold the top ends in toward each other to create enough clearance to slide the top of the trim into place. Once in place you can extend the top ends outward so that the top trim fits evenly over in the corners....make sense. I tried to explain it the best I could. Take it slow and start with the bottom.

I have never put these on, but have recently taken several doors apart. Have thought when I put them back on it would be easy to peel fresh paint off the door if you are not careful.

You can't have much paint that's for sure. If your door has a bunch of paint and primer these mouldings will peel it up. They can be "opened" up a bit to accommodate the thick paint though.
