Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
Wanted to keep the truck stock but it is hers. We each have a 49 but hers is running. 1949 Chevy 3100 pickup. She is asking to start with power disc brakes, and then power steering.
I know there are tons of discussions and tons of stuff out there including eBay. I am looking to you guys who have the experience for recommendations. We would like to keep as stock as possible and have power disc up front and then power steering.

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
I've decided to go this way with mine after buying a suspect looking Ebay kit and getting A Jag XJ crossmember that had been hacked for air bags. I'll use all that stuff someday but the Industrial Chassis crossmember for Dodge Dakota suspension works for me and is a bolt in. http://www.industrialchassisinc.com/...uck-dakota-kit
I already have the big rotors though so all I need is the calipers and brackets to go to big brakes on it. I got a dead in the water Dakota for 200 that came with the AX15 5 speed that I can put behind my 292 with an adapter. Plenty of good name brand MII kits out there for under 2 K though. I''d still stick with the main players like Heidt or Fatman That have been around for a long time an have a

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
speedway motors offers a bolt in too but that dakota set up looks sweet too
I was reading the OP and the brakes may be a little tricky depending on where the booster is or wanted to be mounted. |

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
Going with the Dakota means losing the brand new front springs. I just bought the Disc Brake and Power Steering kits for my wife's truck. Do we have any links on tips and tricks for installing these?

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
Did you order the p/s kit that mounts the box in the original position, behind the axle? There is one kit that mounts a Chevy truck box in front of the axle, outside the frame. I think the rear mount kit is more expensive but I definitely think it would be worth it. I had the front mount kit on my 57 for about 400 miles but hated it. Had bad bump steer and didn't quicken the steering, so I sold it for a third of what I paid and bought a Scotts suspension. I don't think your wife would be satisfied with it.

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
Looking at the Summit 6 bolt disc brake kit. Now need to find a MC and booster for front disc and rear drum. Also still looking for the right steering set up. She wants to keep the original steering column in truck. She is willing to spend.

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
For Disc brakes we decided on the 4954CBK-6HK from CPP; my only concern now is shipping costs. For Steering we are looking at the 4759PSK-S from CPP, but I want to look for a more reasonably priced Steering Box. I believe the CPP is re manufactured Chevy/GM units.

What Dave said.
CPP is not famous for service after the sale for a reason. |

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
I am going with Summit. I spoke with them and they relayed my questions to CPP. Free shipping is great. How about the quality of CPP products? Any concerns there.

Any love for Master Power Brake? Got my under floor booster/ master from them. Brakes were from the IFS kit I used.

Re: Wife is asking for her truck to be upgraded
For the most part they have good items. Sometimes its not so good and made worse by the customer service or lack of. I buy some of their items buy only from places that have excellent service and a good return policy like summit.
