Re: Pictures for Grumpy Old Man
Cool beans ! , That will work great !
For the guys wanting to do the radio cutout repair , This is the easiest and fastest way to tackle that problem ( in my opinion) the small aftermarket repair sections sold force you to do a lot more finish work right on the exposed face of the dash .replacing above the steering column across to the glove box with a factory panel is the way to go .😁

Re: Pictures for Grumpy Old Man
If your just doing radio repair yeah it works very good, this is a little larger cut than needed but better too long than too short . Rewelding across the top under the dash pad saves time and the very small exposed sections seen after the gauges and glove box go in leaves very little body work compared to cutting into the face of the dash , And it's factory metal which I'm a fan of over aftermarket. I vasilated over repairing mine or just dropping a square radio in and I just can't force myself to ruin the whole build over a radio repair ( again my opinion ) I mean the 2 knob radio right in the middle of the dash is what screams 50 years old ! The AM radio was a luxury option !

The original radio, steering wheel, hub caps, paint colors are the icing on the cake, the stuff that makes these trucks truly nostalgic.

Re: Pictures for Grumpy Old Man
Some people like the whole dash, but that requires removal of windshield and drilling out all the rivits at the front edge of the dash. I've seen some that cut all the way across the dash under where the dash pad goes, and of course the cut you see here. No right or wrong, just depends on what you want.
