Question GMC special edition

Hey everybody, I am new to the forum, but so far I think it is the best Chevy/GMC pickup forum on the internet. I am partial to the 73-87 models, and I currently am restoring/customizing an 85 Silverado, hence my username 'Silverado85'.

Anyway, I have searched all over the internet looking for photos of a certain special edition GMC Sierra from the mid-80's but have had no luck in finding anything. I think it might have been a special Texas edition truck that was mostly black with a large silver stripe above the beltline. I recall only seeing a couple of these trucks during the 80's, so I know they are rare. Has anyone seen any pictures of this model? I am thinking of duplicating the paint scheme on my truck, but I want to make sure to do it right. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board, between the two sites Chris posted (mine and Joes) you should be able to find something.

Lets see some pics of your truck.

Does it look like this:

Chevrolet made the Chevy Sport trucks from 77-81. GMC had a version called the GMC Street Coupe from 78-81. Anything newer than this and it would have to be a regionally available options group/package as far as I know.

Thanks guys. Maybe the pickup was just a special paint option for GMC or a regional package like ElGracho said.
I just got my truck last month. It is an 85 Chevy Silverado and not much to look at right now. It spent the last 12 years as a farm truck, but is in pretty good shape. It is a longbed with a 305 and only 85,000 miles. A few minor dents and scratches, but it cleaned up pretty good. I don't have any pictures of it, but I found a picture from a brochure on the internet of a truck that looks just like it.
I have rally wheels on my though, an front bumper guards, but otherwise it looks the same, except having gone through 19 years of use. I will see if I can get this picture to load.............

That is just a special paint option available for that year...although it is pretty cool.

That would look neat in a black/silver combo.

Welcome to the board.

I just got that brochure in the mail today from Crossy (thanks Dave).

The brochure has a truck with that paint scheme in silver and black (exactly what you are looking for) on the front and back cover.
