Axle Bolt Sizes?

I am having a little problem finding the correct size of axle bolts. So far all Auto Parts have only up to 1/2" dia. of the bolt. I have measured mine and its 8" tall x 4 1/8" center to center x 3/4" w/16 TPI. bolt, I want to lower it and need new u-bolts but all i come up with is a 1/2" bolt. I also called The Truck Shop and was on hold for 15 min. "NOT LOL". I guess its par for the course there.

Can any body tell me if what I have is correct for a **68 C10 coils all 4 & trailing arms**. thanks in advance

If I'm reading this right you are looking for the U bolts right? Very common and can be found anywhere that sells parts for these trucks...

I guess you not understanding what I wrote. I have found u-bolts all over BUT all have NO bigger than 1/2" dia. bolts. My truck has 3/4" bolts this is my problem the bolts are NOT large enough that I have found for replacing whats on it now. Apples for Apples not Grapes for Bananas.

Still looking for correct answer for the correct size of u-bolts for a 68 C10 coils all 4 corners with trailing arms.

Re: Axle Bolt Sizes?

Auto parts stores don't carry U-bolts that big, as you found out. If you look in any of the online catalogs for 67-72 trucks, you will find them. If you want to lower the truck, you will need longer than stock bolts and a set of lowering blocks. There was a guy on the forum here that sold those.

Re: Axle Bolt Sizes?

Check with your local spring shop they will have all sorts of diameter bolts and can make them any length you need in square or U-shape

I second that.
And they will be of better quality since they actually use what they make and sell.

Let me correct my self here. Some of the Office people or the one girl I talked to on the phone didn't know squat. When I went there this weekend (The Truck Shop) the person behind the counter went back in his stock room & pulled the right size u-bolts and put them on the counter right in front of me. Wow its amazing when you talk to the right person. ***So I guess I don't care if my question doesn't get answered or not about if what I have is correct for my truck. I have found what I need at THE TRUCK SHOP in Orange,CA
