V11 - MSO Requirement

What is it, and what is included?

If it matters, this is on a 72 3/4 ton 4x4 burb, Custom Deluxe, 3 seater, barn doors, no A/C. Built in Tarrytown NY and sold in New England.

Please no Martha Stewart Omnimedia jokes.

The only thing I've found on the web so far is an option # ZV1 MSO Requirement for a 75 Nova, of which 12 cars were produced with it.

Thanks Bob, that's the route I'm now exploring. Here is a quote from the National Truck Equipment Assn:

Second-Stage Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO)

For use by the second-stage manufacturer who completes a new vehicle by installing a body or equipment. The form certifies that the vehicle is new and has not been used previously in ordinary trade and commerce. Components or other accessories added after the truck is completed do not require the use of an MSO.

Hmmm....

So, would a burb converted to an ambulance for example have and MSO? Or a quad-cab conversion?

I think you nailed it with the second stage manufacturer. I believe
GM gives a MSO to Pace Arrow or Coachman with the chassis for
a motorhome which is sold by the motorhome mfg after the body
is finished. Provides a paper trail unique to that vehicle.

Maybe your's was sent to a second mfg'r.

Does the glovebox VIN match the rest of the vehicle?

Yes the glove box belongs with this burb and I'm 3rd owner and it's pretty much unmolested. I have the protect-o-plate and some Zeibart rustproofing docs as well as owners manual and emmissions/warrenty pamphlets. It was sold by the Commonwealth Chevrolet Company in Boston MA to a gentleman that lived in Hanover NH. Delivered 2/25/72.

Original Ochre paint and all. I have the Zeibart rust-thru warranty, wonder if I can file a claim?

How did you come across all the specifics for this? I can't seem to completely decode the GMC VIN I am working on. I know who it was delivered to. Did you have the date from some other info?

It is written on the New Vehicle Warranty and protect-o-plate pamphlet that came when sold new. Most trucks are missing this info becuase they have changed hands so many times and the docs were misplaced.

Well, since this truck is stilled owned by the original owner I may have it. I have a warranty book that has a metal plate on the back page. Is it in something that looks like this...

Looks like I have the only truck with this option. That makes it the rarest option of all, even rarer than shoulder belts. Now to figure out what "it" is.
