71 brakes on 68 c20, frnt hose help

anyone done this swap on a c20, the 71 c20 front brake hoses are not available, do I need longer ones anyway to connect to the stock location(dont want to move the tab), there is an outfit here that makes lines, just would rather buy something I know that works. The line end is easy 1/4 tube, its the caliper end has a goofy shaped block of brass. thanks

LMC truck has 71-72 c-20 brake hoses so i imagine most of the other vendors have them also

I BOUGHT 72 BRAKE HOSE'S AND FIGURED I COULD GET THEM TO WORK SOME HOW.......

CAN'T BUY DISC HOSE'S FOR A 69......THEY DID NOT HAVE DISC THEN


PLEASE LET ME KNOW ......I HAVE THE COMPLETE STEERING ASS'Y
TO BUT HOPING TO NOT USE IT.....

Mark, havent done it yet either just rounding up the stuff, so far, I have 71 c20 spindles, rotors, main link,a-arms, and new calipers, bearings, seals, master cylinder, tie rod ends & sleeves, ball joints, bushings for same. Also have a handful of hard line and some fittings to redo what ever needs it, will be using Wilwood adjustable, and stock drum booster. Its been a few years but did something similar on my 55, hopefully its like riding a bike. I think for the most part all the front end parts are coming off, and I have clean parts to assemble everything, I did notice that the 68 stock power drums in front reduce from 1/4 to 3/16 , while the 71 disc stuff stays 1/4, and in my truck the Dana 60 looks to be all 1/4, ?. The front soft lines will complete most of my list, I know I can buy 71 hoses from the catalogs but will they be long enough running to back of crossmember as I dont want to change this, if not I will have some made or find some that will work. The only 68 stuff that will stay will be idler and pitman arms and booster. I am going to try to snap a few pistures if I can of the swap and post them. The only thing I dread is bleeding everything, not my favorite thing, have had lousy luck.

MY NEW BRAKE LINES ARE TWICE AS LONG AS THE OLD ONES...

the 72 mounted theres in the middle to the upper a arm....

i can take pics of all my stuff......

i looked up 69 bj's and 72 bj's and they have different number's??

thats the only reason i have not done any thing yet.......

bj's are about 200.00 plus if my old one's wont work...

my 68 isnt apart yet, so I cant say for sure on anything , I bought 71 c20 a-arms all assembled ,powder coated black w/moog bjs and new bushings for $20! YEAH! I never score on anything but that was my day I guess. I dont think the drum stuff will work at all, different diameters, I think someone makes sleeves to keep inners and steering link, but you may stuck with buying new bj's which I heard will go in your a-arms. The problem with the brake lines I think is the shape of it where it hooks to the hose, it is sort of a box looking piece of brass with a key or two sticking out to hold it from rotating on the caliper, in 73 it goes to just a standard looking round end, dont think it will work. I have the stock ones I took of the 71 as a comparison if I need it, I probably will just buy some for a 71 and move the hard lines, no biggie. I have illusions of getting this started and done soon, maybe I can follow thru. If I can be of any help to you I will try.

I went to disc brake on my 69 C30 and went with braided stainless lines.
