Door Locked

I just put my doors back on my truck and I closed the door and now the door is unable to open. When the cover is off and I pull the rod that connects the handle to open it nothing works inside the door handle. Totally stumped. If anyone knows or has an idea of how to open it let me know! Back to the 50's is ocming up and I dont wanna be getting out of it though the passanger door haha

Re: Door Locked

Gotta wake the old guys with the TF trucks up on this one. Word is that they take naps after Sunday dinner though so it may be a while.

I think that happened on my 57 Panel once but can't remember the trick to get it unlocked.

Re: Door Locked

I got it by pushing the swinging latch with a screw driver and a hammer. It was really stuck good.

Re: Door Locked

Need to give it a good cleaning, I don't have the inside handles or rod on mine and can reach in a flip the lever by hand. I don't get naps unless Ms. Joan goes to the store.....

Re: Door Locked

A little late but maybe it will help others, ALWAYS check the latch while the door is open!

Re: Door Locked

You said you had your doors off but did not say what else you have done. New seals? Change the striker position? For sure you probably have changed (even slightly ) the location of the door.

If you did put new rubber on it can sometimes add tension against the door latch. Same with the position of the door and or striker. If you have the door open roll the tumbler over in the latch (to simulate the door being closed) . Now try opening it . Either with the outside knob or inside handle. If it opens easily look at adjustment, striker, rubber which can bind the door up when latched etc. Good Luck

Question, do you have door weatherstripping on? if so, is it so tight with the weatherstripping that you can't unlock??
