Okay, everyone, I just got back from a 3600-mile road trip and am catching up. I'll make the call in the next few days and see if I can get these guys interested based on all the interest here and on the 67-72 board. Will keep you posted!

Re: Gauging interest in repro 15x8 6-lug steelies!

UPDATE: I talked to Wheel Vintiques last week and told them a whole bunch o' people wanted a 6-lug version of their 5-lug steel wheel. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to give a crap. I was trying to get through to a decision maker, but the sales guy didn't care.

So, new tactic: Everyone above who said they'd be in, call Wheel Vintiques and apply the pressure! I've called a few times, I've been told I'd get called back, never to any avail. If all of us call them a time or two, either they'll get the message or they'll just be turning away sales. Wheel Vintiques: 1.800.959.2100

Wheel Smith

I've had Bob at Wheel Smith build me a few sets over the years. They look just like the 3-Nubs but the outers he uses clear disk brakes! They can also put new outers on your existing wheels, pretty much any width (although this works out to being more money that just buying the wheels he makes). Also if you re-hoop (put a new outer) any 3-nub or 4-nub wheel, they will work with disk brakes. Reason the 3-nubs do not fit disk brakes is the angle the hoop or outer takes going up to the center of the wheel. All new DOT outers are flat in this area.

Wheel Vintiques used to do custom work too before they were sold to the current owner. Now they just sell what they have listed. The reason for the change is insurance and liability based. Selling pre-built DOT approved wheels is a whole different ball game than building wheels.

Called the wheel smith yesterday, sounds like this is the way to go.

Makes the wheel to whatever backspacing you want and can add powder coating for another $50

Assuming they're all in good shape, that's a damn good deal for five, especially if you want black... make sure they're all four-nub though.

3-nub and 4-nub will work for all us 60-66 owners unless you've added disk brakes then you will need 4-nub for the wheels with disk brakes.

Here's a pair of 3-nubs I sold to another member up here. They fit perfectly on the rear of his 67 C10 since it's drum brakes.
