Or post the actual VIN prefix (with 123456 as the sequential portion) and let's see what we've got. K

Re: vin number
That doesn't jive with any vin I have seen be it Chevy or GMC. As it was rat rodded it may be a made up vin number.

Re: vin number
Just a thought, might be an original English truck or one imported by US military which would have odd VIN. I have a Jeep that was sold directly to an airport, never titled and the VIN does not match know sequences for the year. I have all the original paper work from Willys to the airport and airport bill of sale to my dad.
The engine vin should have one, two or even three Alpha characters at the end which were used to determine original application. Or as mentioned, restamp by a builder or for State titling.

Re: vin number
Orrie may have hit on something there. Is the vin on the GM tag on the door post or is it on a different tag?
A factory id tag on the door post on a 53 Chev should look like this one http://www.classicparts.com/1953-Doo...nfo/33%2D014/# A 53 GMC tag on the door post will look like this one http://www.classicparts.com/1953-54-.../#.V2boljXSuX4
