Steering wheel input needed.
I've been looking on and off for a new steering wheel for my truck for some time. It has an older grant wheel in it now and would be ok for most trucks but if you've been following my build you know that I've done a ton of work to her in the last 6 months. If not, she's going to be a "pro-touring" style 72 short bed. Has a 650+HP LS3 that will probably get a power adder at some point. She is getting 4-linked, coil overs, Baer breaks... The whole 9 yards. I have always thought that the steering wheel and the wheels should complement each other so I'll post a pic of the wheels too.
The steering wheel here is a Momo Trek R that I really like the look of with the gunmetal gray and a sporty look but I'm concerned it may be a bit on the "rice burner" side of things.it is a 35cm so it's not too small at just under 14". What are your thoughts. Anyone have an alternative? I'll say I'm not big on the billet ones with metal on the back side. I don't like that feel. |

Another pic. If I go this route I could remove the chrome piece at the bottom of the wheel and powder coat it a different color like black or gunmetal gray. Be interior is black leather

Re: Steering wheel input needed.
I have been eyeing the Momo Eagle steering wheel for my truck which is also flat bottomed. Leg room getting in and out is needed, so traditional looks will have to take a back seat to function. Right now I have a small round wheel and have to have the tilt column up one click in order to exit. My column is an automatic with selector and will be changed out for a manual without tilt which I plan to shorten to increase distance to the wheel. Moving the wheel away actually lessens leg room, hence needing the flat bottomed wheel. My truck build is more on the traditional side, with aluminum rally wheels, truck mirrors and tail lights, (step side) so the wheel will look out of place. The truck is lowered way down though so it doesn't look like a restoration.
I say go for it. It's not all about looks. Function and feel are important. Russ

Re: Steering wheel input needed.
If that wheel spoke is removable paint it orange to match the truck.

Re: Steering wheel input needed.
I have custom leather seats with black leather and orange stitching. I think I'm going to see if my interior guy can redo the stitching to match the seats. More of a subtle tie in. I ordered the wheel last night so we will see how it looks in person.
