Re: Check this Wow
It's not even $400 and you think that's too much??? I get the feeling you're one of these people who stands back, takes a good look, then decides whether leaping is a good idea or not. Good luck with that!

Re: Check this Wow
I guess I'm just ignorant ..I thought maybe there was a 2 carat diamond under the hood..
I come from a background of people paying thousands for a small piece of cardboard with Mickey Mantles picture on it. You know stuff that makes sense.

Re: Check this Wow
I don't know anything about that casting or version of that casting. Why is that truck so desirable, if anyone knows? The seller's description doesn't mention that it is super rare or anything.

I know all about it but not going to tell you. You can thank me for sparing you the buyer's remorse!
Nah, I have no idea. Never heard talk of it under any one the rocks I hang under. If anyone knows it would be 1BadGMC (or you)

Re: Check this Wow
BigMike how do you preorder one of those trucks? It would go nice with my collection.

Sorry, just saw your question. I just looked at all the diecast stores and found them. Now you can get them on eBay

Re: Check this Wow
I just saw this thread.
To give a little explanation on the insane pricing, there were three "Rods" series' in 2009. Cop Rods were Target exclusives. Fire Rods were Toys R Us exclusives. Military Rods were Wal-Mart exclusives. The Cop Rods '83 Silverado is the cheapest and easiest of the three to come by. $25-30 is a fair price for the Cop Rods. Notice the series number of the Cop Rods truck is #8 of 26, so it came out fairly early in the series. The Fire Rods is #16 of 26 and the Military Rods is #25 of 26. These three series weren't very popular sellers at retail for some reason, so a lot of the later releases never made it to their intended retail destinations and instead went to liquidators like Big Lots! and the like. The Military and Fire Rods were casualties of this. They never got their full production run, so they're hard to come by. Combine that with a pretty big demand for this casting right now and you have prices on those going through the roof! I'm only missing those two Rods plus two of the 4x4 releases to have the full collection of the '83 Silverados, but with prices like that, I won't be adding the Rods to my collection anytime soon. |

Re: Check this Wow
I'll take a picture a little later when I can get around better (just had hip replacement surgery), but I finally have them all. I got a great deal on the Military & Green RLC, then got a carded green RLC in a trade along with the red Modern Classics. Won the Fire Rod in a raffle and the rest I got early on so I have extras of those. Took me several years to get them all but I finally did it.
It's crazy how these, the Jada C10's & the Maisto 1500's took off. I have had hundreds of the Maisto 1500's and sold a bunch to buy some of the bigger ticket items for my truck. Guys with too much money that are bored I guess...lol |

Re: Check this Wow
I was on a semi-hiatus from collecting when Maisto was making the squares. I remember seeing most of them int he stores, but just didn't pick them up. I did buy two of the transporters with them, though. I have the set with the blue & silver truck and the set with the black & gold truck.
