Rear end brake id help please...
Want to redo the rear brakes/wheel cylinders on my 72 C20, but not sure what to get. The rear axle is obviously not original, looks more like a late 80's early 90's maybe?? Anyway, therein lies my problem, what parts do I get? Here's what I know: brake drum came right off after lug nuts were taken off, no need to pull the axle, etc. The drum measures 13" inside diameter, by 2-1/2". The ring gear has the following numbers: 2 GM 14012786 11 41 12 63. Would think the "11 41" means 3.73 gear ratio (41/11=3.73). Think maybe the "012786" means January 27, 1986?? So maybe I get brake parts for a 1986 2500??
I'm lost as to what to get, any help is definitely appreciated! Brian |

Yep, Late GM semi-float 14 bolt. Strong rear end. I think an 8 lug should be full float, but that's just me.

Re: Rear end brake id help please...
I have that same rearend in my 87 3/4 ton. No its not a full floater but a semi-floater like a 1/2 ton.It also only has a 9 or 9 1/2 ring gear. It's not as strong as a f-f. The f-f has a larger ring gear. 10 or10.5 can't remember which. Hope this helps. Gord
