270 GMC engine valve lash adjustment

Would you adjust the valve lash on the 270 GMC when hot or cold? I've found 2 guides one suggested adjusting when hot and one suggesting adjusting when cold. Both guides say Exhaust valves at 20 thou and inlets at 12 thou.

Which way do you do yours?

Re: 270 GMC engine valve lash adjustment

My memory is running temperature. I have the original tool my grandfather and dad used for adjusting GM six valves, a combo wrench / screwdriver affair. An old valve cover with the top cut off helps keep the oil at bay too.
