Re: Opinions are like .......

I just realized - buying only the chrome lid for your current setup and then adding the 396 stickers etc would probably look pretty cool as well.

It is helpful advice, but maybe not delivered in the way you want

on the old air cleaner there is a PROPERLY installed pvc valve on the drivers side obscured by the snorkel of the cleaner attached to the back of the carb, the breather is replaced by a flash suppressor hosed up to the neck under the air cleaner, original factory set up. On the after market the pcv is hosed off the front of the carb to the passenger side VC and the breather is on the drivers side. The aftermarket set up has been that way for 2 years and hasn't puked any oil out of my cheapo valve covers on to my engine yet. What constitutes them to be cheapo valve covers anyway? and as stated before we have yet to see a pic of your truck........

I posted it kinda in response to the "Stock. Those chrome, open things have always screamed "CHEAP!" at me"... I DISAGREE
The low valve covers on the BB solid lifter HiPerf engines had drippers welded to the inside to lube the rocker arm ball.
Disagree and be welcome, but it ain't stock on a truck. And it still looks CHEAP.

Imagine looking down into that thing and seeing your carb in action.

That is pretty good. Not quite the frying-pan look I was looking for, but close. Now they just need a clear bottom to show the linkages and hoses.

Re: Opinions are like .......

I'm not a fan of open chrome air cleaners, but I think one is at least as much in place on your engine as is the factory one - the factory Corvette type would be my vote, getting chrome and the flow of an open element while still stating Period and Factory.

Ya'll good ol' boys with your hair trigger shotgun opinions don't pipe down and I'm not going to spend much time here. I'll ask my Chevy questions to the old Jeep and tractor people who know how to express their opinion without impressing it like a hot iron.
