Which of these is correct?

Guys trying to get my truck put back together. When I got the truck it was already torn apart. I've got 2 stepside beds for the truck, and the bed side panels are a little different. The bed that has been stripped has the angles spot welded to the sides and the red bed does not. Which of these is the correct way they are supposed to be.

Yes, and in your first pic you can see where the spot welds were. You can buy replacement angle pieces now to weld back on.

Re: Which of these is correct?

As stated, the originals were spot welded on....the angle goes on top of the wood. When I bought my truck I discovered the original angles had been cut off and replace with inverted angles so they could just lay a piece of plywood in the bed. I cut them out and replaced them with bolt-in angles from Mark-K in the correct orientation.

Do the bolts go through the side of the bed in areas you can see them, or does their kit only place bolts inside of where the fender is? I guess you could bolt the majority of it and use a couple good spot welds on each end?

Yes...I had to drill all new holes except where the fenders bolted up. I'll post a picture up if I can find one of the bolts going through the the bed side.
Here's a shot where you can see the bolts in the bed side where the old spot welds where.

Re: Which of these is correct?

Ok I've got a set of polished stainless angle strips. Would you guys recommend bolting those one or spot welding them

If I knew how to weld and owned a welder at that time, I would have welded them.
