64 vs 65 rear end
I have a 64 c10 short bed with no rear end. I have a 65 c10 long bed with a good rear end. I swapped the 65 rear end to the 64 frame and used a new 65 tracking bar from LMC truck. I made the track bar work but it required a little persuasion to get it aligned in the frame mount. The bushing mounted to the differential is under a little stress. The original 65 track bar had a slight bend in it whereas the new 65 track bar is straight.
Is this okay or am I going to have problems? There must be some differences in the track bar mount from 64 to 65 since the LMC catalog only lists the track bar for 65-66. But I don't have a clue what it can be. Thanks for you help! |

Re: 64 vs 65 rear end
As I recall the difference is where it mounts to the axle not the frame. I'm pretty sure I've read CaptainFab explain this before, maybe he will chime in shortly or try a search, I know it's been covered.

Re: 64 vs 65 rear end
The bracket on the frame is different due to the different angle of the panhard bar. Can you drill out the rivets on the brackets and swap the 65 bracket over to the 64?

Re: 64 vs 65 rear end
Duh! I never thought to take the bracket from the 65 frame. I will try that. Thanks for the help!
