Brian this is hard to find in decent shape. Most end up like yours did.
I would suggest just making one. That is what I did. I bought a piece of cold rolled rod at the hardware store ( I think it is 3/8 but measure to be sure). Cut it to the overall length. Put a couple of bends in it and then used a die to cut the threads up each end. Took less than an hour. Here is a picture of it when done. I had just sanded it up before paint.

Found it.....still has the hardware on it...rusty but not pitted...threads are good
