Advice for tinting rear window
Alright so I've got a 72 Cheyenne with the sliding rear window. I want to get it tinted, but after calling a tint shop they said they wouldn't do the rear window without charging an arm and a leg to do it right, as they say that because they can't get the tint to go over each window entirely, dust and dirt will end up under the tint, messing it up and causing it to peel. They suggested either having it replaced with a solid window which would be cheaper, but I like the sliding window so I want to keep it, or looking for pre-tinted windows, which I have almost no idea where I can find that. Anyone go through this before and think they could help me out or give me some advice? Thanks.

Re: Advice for tinting rear window
I was kind of thinking that, as I called another shop and they quoted me about $260 for the sides and rear, and they said they charge extra for the sliding glass, because it's harder to do, but they didn't say there would be any big problems with it.

Do you think they mean with a single window style they (the tint company) are able to get the entire perimeter edge of the tint film underneath the rubber window molding? I have seen the bubbled up window tint and it looks terrible - that is probably the main reason I haven't tried it. On a related topic in California supposedly the cops can pull you over if your windows are tinted too dark but I don't happen to have the vehicle code section handy.. |

Re: Advice for tinting rear window
You're safe with 40%on the side windows, and the back window you can get away with 20%, some go even darker than that. Cops and CHP don't really seem to care about the back window.
