2wd Lift Spindles
I was looking into some 4" lift spindles for my 88 regular cab, but all i can find are ones for 88-98 ext cab/92-98 reg cab. Whats the difference in the spindles from an 88 regular cab and these other ones. They appear to be the same to me.

Re: 2wd Lift Spindles
spindles should be the same the coil springs will be different because of the rate difference on the reg cab to ext cab.

That was my thinking, coil spacers would still be the same, correct? I was looking into those as well.

Re: 2wd Lift Spindles
yes but they are bad for ball joint angles and probably cause some nasty bump steer. go with the spindles. my friend did 2 inch spacers on hid 1993 chevy short bed reg cab and had lots of steering issues. rode like crap.

Re: 2wd Lift Spindles
2nd on the spindles. Just lowered a 2wd Yukon back to stock that had the coil spring spacers and boosters, and could not get it aligned right with those in there. PO had put that garbage in.
And while we're on the subject, what is the obsession with jacking up 2wd trucks? I don't get it.

Re: 2wd Lift Spindles
I'm probably going to lift the 95 2wd at some point, simply because I like the look better. I've never liked the look of 2wd trucks.
I have several Jeeps for when I need 4wd, and I've got a sentimental attachment to the truck as it was my grandfather's (RIP) so selling it and buying a 4wd truck isn't something I want or need to do. If I lift it I can always put it back to stock later if I want to, so not like I'm doing anything permanant to it. I've debated on just keeping it as is and buying a 95-98 4wd truck, but I've already got three Jeeps, the 83 GMC, the 95 GMC, and my daily driver sitting around so I really don't need another vehicle taking up space around here. Plan now is to swap a complete 6 lug rear end, preferably with an LSD, into the rear and use spindles and light 2500 6 lug rotors up front. Going to put stock Z71 wheels on which I already have. Will look like a 4wd, but won't be 4wd. |
