Shifter Slop ?
I have an automatic tilt steering column. There is a lot of slop in the gear shift. It all seems to be in the column. Can this be fixed?

I'm on my 3rd truck, and kinda getting sick of the shifter slop you are refering to. I think it's time for a floor shfter.

id rather have the slop than a stupid shifter housing nub sitting there looking ugly, but then ive enver had a column that loose, ive always had luck of having not worn out columns, the one in the van is damne dsuper tight, too tight is hard ot move, probably just jinxed myself though, watch it go and break off in the morning now..
good luck |

What kind of slop? Is it tilt slop or gear selection slop? If it's gear selector then you can try the bushings out under the hood for selctor to transmission, just like a 3 speed. If it's tilt slop you will have to take it a part and rebuild it. I have had good luke with mine so far. Hope this helps.

The slop is in the gear selection. The linkage down to the transmission is tight. How hard is it to tear apart the column and rebuild it?

I have a B&M Z gate on mine,& think that was easier than messing with stock. You cant overshift it either........69 longhorn.
