wood bed floor questions

A few years back I bought a basket case 68' shortbox 4x4. It came with litterally 3 truckloads of misc parts from that truck and the last 10 trucks he had parted out. I have the shortbox bedsides, 4-5 front header panels and about 20 misc bed floor supports.

Is there a difference between wood floor and steel bed floor supports?

Also I have a set of polished long box stainless strips and a couple boxes of longbox oak bed floor still in the box. Will i be able to cut the wood down to shortbox dimensions? Will the bed mounting be the same?

Re: wood bed floor questions

I would use the LMC catalog to help identify the cross supports. It is a great resource for how things go together. Its not that hard to figure out once you see the diagram. I am not sure about the wood if the holes are drilled in for a long bed but GMC Paul's has a lot of great information on bed wood and dimensions. It might help you to compare those long bed and short bed wood lengths and bolt holes. I hope this helps, I assembled my bed last year and used a lot of vendor resources to get through it. Good luck.
