carb problems

I went to start my truck the other day and gas was pouring out of the vent above the fuel inlet. Its circled in yellow in a picture I found on the internet.

Re: carb problems

my first thought is that something got in the float valve and it is stuck open causing gas to overflow the bowl.

Re: carb problems

Yikes....looks like you are in for some carb correction.
What are you using for a PCV connection?
I see a bunch of plugged ports as well as what appears to be an open vacuum connection on the lower left front of the carb. How does this vehicle run?
That carb is from a later 70's or early 80's vehicle so it isn't going to be the easiest carb to tune and set-up.
I think a couple of the members have a vacuum routing diagram for that series of carb.

Re: carb problems

Could be a stuck needle and seat. Rap on it with the phenolic end of a screwdriver, not hard enough to ding or break anything, but in an attempt to free it.

If that doesn't work the top of the carb will need to come off.

It's pretty common, more so if you've recently had any lines off it.

Re: carb problems

the picture is not off my carb. My truck is 200miles away in storage and I was trying to run the engine a bit over the 4th. What part do I tap on?
