First step was to disassemble the c/30

Then i tore down the engine to get ready for a rebuild. It didnt have an easy life and i found cracks in the lifter valley. So that went in the scrap pile.

Cab swap time. Took the cab off the 70 gmc c30 frame, which turned out to be a 67-68 cab anyway, and put it on the c10 short bed frame to start doing the real work. Took some creative rope and pulley work to drag the shell uphill in to the garage.

Time to make it lower. 3 inch spindles and 3 inch springs in front, and 5 inch springs in the rear.

This is where it gets weird. C-notch. Why not put a dually rear in this truck!! Had to convert it from a leaf spring rear to a coil spring rear.

Well, if youre doing all this why not convert it to rear disc brakes too............ Turns out they dont make a kit for this rear so ill have to mix and match different parts to make it happen. Mocked it up a few different ways before i found a way i liked that i thought would work well and be easily serviceable.

Fabricated panhard bar mount on diff, adjustable panhard bar from an 01 chevy malibu. Rear end and disc brake set up complete with hydrodipped diff cover in a fire skull pattern.

Whoops!!! Unforeseen side effect, 16.5 inch wheels dont fit over the calipers. Go to junk yard and get 19.5s to fit. Front brakes redone and all new brake lines from master cylinder out to calipers, including new prop valve.

Motor time. 350 4-bolt out of a 1992 k2500 bored .30 over with mild cam. All new from carb to pan. Transmission is a th400 out of a low mileage, wrecked 72 vette, tested good, fluids flushed with new filter and seals. Put the motor in the 6 cylinder position with the 6 cylinder motor stands and still had room for the hei dist near the firewall. I did have to notch the motor stands a little bit to clear the block hugger headers.

Motor and trans going in. Mental note, when working around big heavy metal things by yourself, watch fingers or you may pinch finger and then have to drill finger nail to relieve the pressure from blood blister, fun, lol.

Now, because the dual wheels narrow the rear end i had to cut approximately 10 inches out of the middle of the bed to have it fit between the tires. I then made a floor out of tiger strand bamboo.

Lets make a fuel tank.........out of a keg, and a mount......complete with roll over valve and fuel level sight tube. My wife calls it "the little piggy", not sure why.

I ran the exhaust from the headers out through the fender wells to the outside of the frame so i could tuck it up tight for ground clearance in case the truck ever gets bagged. One day walking through a junk yard i and saw some big rig stacks layin on the ground and thought...........why not!!!! Then sent power to the electric fuel pump and fired it up.......she now runs!!!

Body panels went on next to start the paint work for the faux patina. 4 different colors, 1 red oxide primer, 2 metallic blue, 3 gray primer, and 4 red.

Thanks guys!! Swamp rat, that homer build is pretty cool, and here thought i was the only nut that would make a short bed dually, lol. Tommy, i thought about doing a wide trailer fender, but im taking a step away from it right now to enjoy my other toys for a little while. Maybe in the future ill make something up.
