I have no idea how many lumins they are, but factory back-ups are bright enough. So, if these are brighter you will be fine

You didn't like the stock tail lights ? Are your new backup lights going to be hidden by a tailgate ?

<begin cite from FMVSS 108>
Test points (45L,5U); (45L,H); (45L,5D): Min 45cd total for group Test points (45R,5U); (45R,H); (45R,5D): Min 45 cd total for group Test points (30L,H); (30L,5D): Min 50cd total for group Test points (30R,H); (30R,5D): Min 50cd total for group Test points (10L,10U); (10L,5U); (V,10U); (V,5U); (10R,10U); (10R,5U): Min 100cd total for group Test points (10L,H); (10L,5D); (V,H); (V,5D); (10R,H); (10R,5D): Min 360cd total for group When 2 lamps of the same or symmetrically opposite design are used, the reading along the vertical axis and the averages of the readings for the same angles left and right of vertical for 1 lamp shall be used to determine compliance with the requirements. If 2 lamps of differing designs are used, they shall be tested individually and the values added to determine that the combined units meet twice the candela requirements. When only 1 backup lamp is used on the vehicle, it shall be tested to twice the candela requirements. <end cite from FMVSS 108> I'm not entirely sure how to read those last two lines, you might need to google the "FMVSS 108 backup light" for more info. But it sounds like 45 per light so 90 should be enough, but don't take my word for it!

Build a toolbox to hide the fuel neck. Make it useful and fill in that corner with it.

Re: 90 lums for backup light is it enough
if that is a complement thank you
i built it from the ground up with my son , started on it 3 yrs ago when he was 10. we took a 69 c10 fleetside longbox cut 30 inches out of the box did all the bodywork my self, new corners rockers, doors, fenders. sat it on a 83 k5 blazer frame put a 1st gen vortec engine minus the tbi (went carb instead) in it, seats out of a 2000 silverodo the bed is done with pine that had black stain sanded down then red oak stain then valspar then sanded from one end to the other to scratch it up. Edit: don't know how I missed the fact the filler is in the bed side. I'd still go with a tool box over a gas can to cover up the filler neck though. More useful. |
