need to find a smaller steering wheel

my old 69 is a pleasure to drive, but i cannot get used to the large steering wheel. can someone point me in the direction of a steering wheel that is not so expensive? the cheaper the better. my c10 is no beauty queen, she's a work horse. i need functional and cheep!

I use a steering wheel from a late 80's Chevy truck which will mount to the truck column shaft with no problem. Horn was not much of a problem to hook up. Not sure I have pics that will show it, think it is a 16'' diameter. A bit smaller than stock. Go to small with no power steering and then you wind up with "Arm Strong Power Steering"

Best pic I have of it which doesn't show really well. Lots of options tho as most any GM steering wheel from early 60's to late/mid 90's will work as long as it is not air bag equipped.

Below is a leather wrapped wheel from a 94 S10 Blazer LT. There were several variations on this style wheel used through 1994. The Blazer LTs are the only models where I've seen the leather wrapped version. The second picture shows my original (for comparison), the LT wheel (top right), and 2 other versions of the LT style w/o leather. You do have to run a wire for the horn contact. Very simple to do.

I paid $20 for the leather wheel at the junkyard.

I have one of those wheels too, and I think they are great. Came off an early 90s full size pickup. You can still find them at salvage yards pretty cheap.

do those OEM 90s GM units "dish" the steering wheel back towards the driver? i dont want it any closer to me than the original steering wheel.

They stick on top of the factory Chevy emblem and cover it completely. But you are now sworn to secrecy about this little trick.

I just installed a 15" GT Performance model #36-5459 GT Retro Dark Wood steering wheel with their #11-1002 GT3 Std Chevy Bowtie horn. 4" Backset combined with their hub puts the steering wheel at about the same position as the original. It's a very comfortable steering wheel.

I agree the factory wheel is a bit big, especially with limited seat adjustment - tilt columns do help here.
I have these two factory wheels available. The three spoke is 14.5" wide and the two spoke is 15.5" wide.

If you go to junkyard, know you will likely need a wheel puller with fine thread bolts.

I had a Four Spoke 11 inch wheel (Out of my old Hot Rod) in mine fore a while. It was fine for running around and such, but I noticed it was more effort to drive on long drives. I ended up putting the Grant Wheel in that looks like the old Corvette wheel (and they come in Walnut, if you like that). Its not as big as the stock, but enough to make driving nice. For the puller, you can just go to one of the Autoparts stores and borrow a one for a deposit, you just have to take it back when you're done

If you have woodgrain in your cab another option is to use a '77 Caprice steering wheel. It is one of the few that say, "Chevrolet" on them. The earlier ones have, "Classic", which is kind of cool, too.

i did find one guys. i found one off of a cavalier. it is nice and small, just like i wanted. it doesnt look as nice as some of other options, but my c10 is a work truck, no beauty queen. so the cavalier steering wheel will do just fine!
