GMC hood ornament - which years?

Got this off of a '77 GMC at Pick n Pull last summer, and it's just been sitting in my garage. Thinking of putting it on my '75 but only if it's correct for the year. I know they used this particular style ornament until 1980, but what year did they introduce it? Thanks

I had a 1974 and 76 that had that same one my 1981 had one also but it was smaller than that so I think they changed them a little in 81 and newer
