LMC Steering Wheels

I have a 1971 SWB Fleetside and its original steering wheel has seen better days. Has anyone used the reproduction ones from LMC? I'm looking to keep original as possible (black).
All suggestions are very appreciated.
Thank you all!

Brothers has the repo wheels listed for 219.00 with 10% off this month. I'll bet they all get them from same vendor.

Re: LMC Steering Wheels

What is wrong with your old wheel ? I restore old wheels, they are repairable as long as the center hub isn't to bad

Re: LMC Steering Wheels

Here is a before and after pic of a practice wheel I was playing with, the hub on this one was shot. But it does give you an idea of what I am doing.

I was able to find the one before I started any work on it.

Re: LMC Steering Wheels

I would get the one on your truck now restored or find a decent original wheel. I drove my uncles 72 cheyenne 3/4 ton 4x4 and he had a repro wheel on it and it was complete GARBAGE imo. It was cheap, plastic-y, and you can bend the top back and forth VERY easily, it felt like it was going to come apart in my hands. Just my 2 cents

Do you have any threads with directions on what you need and how to restore a wheel like that? I would like to try that!

Re: LMC Steering Wheels

I have been told that reproduction steering wheels lack the center metal wire that OEM wheels had. I found an OEM wheel on this site and went that way.

Re: LMC Steering Wheels

The reproduction wheels looks pretty nice, but they're nowhere near as rigid as the originals, like the steel core is wimpy.

Doesn't really interfere with using it, but it's annoying. Still, beats $500 for an NOS unit if you don't need one.

I found my OEM wheel on the parts forum for $200.00 last summer and I know of a NOS that sold for $300.00 and a NOS that was given away to a member.

Re: LMC Steering Wheels

The reproduction wheels definitely are built the same as OEM except the gauge of rod stock is lighter

This is a picture of mine. I'm not sure if the inner arms can be repaired?!
Thank you for all the help!
