Rebuilding spring seat foam on a dime !
I'm rebuilding some '67-'68 folding seats this week for my farm truck build and another to sell and after media blasting and painting the frames semi gloss , I wrapped the springs with burlap and hog rung in place then added a 2" strip of carpet padding to the edge wire also hog rung in place after that I added a 4 ' wide angled wedge glued to the outside edge of the seat to stop that leaning toward the door feeling you can get on these old seats and it really helps you sit better in the seat after that a firm 1" flat stock sheet cut to fit and glued down and wrapped around the seat edge about 4 " , I've used this same process for many years and it works great . No expensive foam replacement and total cost was less than $20.00 .

Check with your local fabric stores most carry foam for their customers projects , The 1" firm foam sheet I bought was enough to do the back and bottom of the seat and cost $10.00 call and check as the price for foam varies greatly store to store they will also generally sell the burlap and jute padding and can advise you on what type of spray can contact glue to use.

Re: Rebuilding spring seat foam on a dime !
Thanks Matt for posting those pics , this is the seat going in my 67 farm truck build , sorry no aftermarket Taiwanese covers for me I build my own . It still needs to be slapped around a little to line up the lines but should be fine for the farm truck , no expensive foam replacements required !

Re: Rebuilding spring seat foam on a dime !
The 67 farm truck will have these seats/doorpanels same color on the dash double French seamed and visor ,black rubber mat , the paint will be stock 67 light green with 67 style white roof and green glass , 292 slightly built tri power intake / carbs - Muncie four speed - 3.73 Posi after all this I'm not so sure it'll get driven on the farm ?
I offered up this truck and very nice straight frame with the 292 and Posi last year in here for $2,000.00 and nobody wanted it ....Let's see what you think it's worth finished ?

Re: Rebuilding spring seat foam on a dime !
No build thread ,No progress pictures until their done and then I'll post the whole story of what I did how I did it and why . I have enough trouble deciding on how I want them to look without outside influence clouding my picture . I build them for me .I already have enough voices talking in my head ! 😁
