I'm assuming that you don't have the stock frame as it all bolts up through factory holes on those.
It does stick out there a ways stock. That doesn't mean that it has to be out that far as tucked in a bit closer might look better if you don't have the filler piece.

Now you are messing with that poor California boy's mind Chevy-49. He will have to get the metric tape measure or the conversion chart out.
I'm going to save that on my Photobucket page for the next time someone asks tagged with your screen name on it.

It looks like it comes down to where you can drill new holes and get nuts on the back or bolts through from the back and at the same time have the bumper placed where it looks right to your eyes.

Re: I need a measurement 1951 chevy truck
Thanks i think i got it figured out i just needed a baisic idea on how close to right i was. just didn't want it protruding too far out.
The way i mounted my rear leaf spring hangers through the frame rails it dident give me to much mounting space for the bumper brackets to slide in.

Re: I need a measurement 1951 chevy truck
when I mounted my rear bumper years a go, I clamped the brackets to the frame so that the curve in the bracket started to bend just at the end of the frame. the ends of the bracket hit the spring mounts and the holes didn't line up. just cut off the end of the bracket & drilled new holes in the bracket. sorry - no pictures now. the bumper has been replaced by a roll pan & the springs have been replaced by a 4 bar

Re: I need a measurement 1951 chevy truck
Yours are mounted the same as mine are on my 48 but I have a 3 inch stainless steel pipe rear bumper. I looked under there today and I had made some extensions to bolt the non stock bumper brackets to. I had two or three different bumpers on it in a 20 year period and don't remember when I made those brackets but it was probably when I had a Nissan Pickup rear bumper on it in the early 80's. My buddy worked as parts manager in a dealership and got me one that they were getting rid of as being too old to keep on the shelf.
I see some creative fabricating in your future.
