1956 GMC build
I thought I would contribute to the forum with my amateur body work since this is my first build. I am looking for some info on the position for the motor mounts on a TCI Mustang II , I cant figure where to mount and can't find anyone with measurements.
Be kind with your comments I know some of the work could be better. |

Re: 1956 GMC build
Welcome aboard!! Were not here to judge but help each other out (enable)LOL.
Anyhow on my motor placement, it's a lot of trial and error. I'm building my own frame with Corvette suspension and LS power. Tack it in put the cab and sheet metal back on and make sure it all fits. Don't weld anything solid until your sure. Just my 2 cents.

Re: 1956 GMC build
Welcome.
What AZ. Hank said is how I did mine. I have a 67 Chevelle clip with a 6.2LS and did it that way to make sure everything was going to fit. Kim |

Re: 1956 GMC build
i recommend setting the cab back on, just set it on the frame w/rubber mounts and drop bolts in
then hang the motor and trans in there to fabricate the motor mounts these trucks are notorious for having too much weight over the front axle the motor should be as far back as it can without interfering with the firewall i left my cab on while fabricating the front and rear suspension and motor mounts then i pulled the cab to build the trans x-member and mount here's my motor mounts, you can see the cab on the frame you can also come off the frame with something similar to these

Re: 1956 GMC build
the front cab supports are supported by the original trans x-member that most of us cut out
this supports the cab and all the front sheet metal, if they sag it will mess with your door/fender gaps i suggest putting some support back to the front cab mount brackets the drop out piece in the center is my trans mount 1000 ways to support them, this is how i did it
