Threads Stripped on Quadrajet Inlet

Hi, I need to get my truck back working ASAP but I noticed a fuel leak at the carb where the fuel filter chamber threads into the carb body. On inspection I see that the threads are stripped and can not be used again.
Short of buying a used Q-Jet at the yard, is there a fix that will hold up? Much Thanks, Brian

Re: Threads Stripped on Quadrajet Inlet

Most auto supply stores will carry a oversized self threading inlet nut. Just don't put a filter back in there, you will trash the threads on the carb.

Re: Threads Stripped on Quadrajet Inlet

I haven't seen one in a while but they make/made a oversized( thinkin self threading)fuel inlet for quads just for this purpose.

Perhaps they are in the "help" section in the stores.

If your local parts store counter guy gives you the 'deer caught in the headlights look', you can get one here.

Re: Threads Stripped on Quadrajet Inlet

Depending how stripped I've used jb weld and it's worked. Just do not run a filter in carb.

Re: Threads Stripped on Quadrajet Inlet

Thanks Trac209, I thought of that but it's really stripped and it wobbles back and forth pretty bad when "tight". I'm going with the self tapping repair part.

Now after screwing around with it I had a stuck float needle and had to take the top off. Now I am missing one of the four little brass needles that hangs off of the top and I was having a bear of a time getting all those needles to go into their holes. It sucks getting old? I used to do this type of repair on the side of the road in a few minutes and be on my way. Now parts go missing and one problem leads to another and to another, then the gasket disappears. Time to drink my lunch , it's in the 90s out there. Brian out.
